Still Blooming

     September is one of my favorite times of the year and while there are a lot less flowers blooming in my yard, I still found quite a few. The dahlias and zinnias are especially blooming well now. I decided to dig up my beloved Hansa roses, which makes me a little sad. The leaves have been plagued with a mysterious problem for three years in a row, and this year they had black-spot as well so they were looking less than lovely, to say the least. They had also outgrown their space. I am trying to save a small section of it that looked healthy and will see if that carries over the leaf problem or not.

     Last year I grew two tomato plants from seed that I had saved from store bought grape tomatoes, and they all grew and tasted like the original tomatoes. Since I still had a few seeds left, I grew them again this year. While one of the plants produced grape tomatoes, the other one produced larger tomatoes. They are pretty tasteless so I am saving them for recipes instead of fresh eating. I knew that I was taking a chance on that hybrid seed coming true but it is fun to experiment.

June Blooms and a Rock Family

    June is a busy month in the garden, with the weeds trying to keep up with the flowers. At least I finally know the name of my enemy now, the dreaded pearlwort! I'll have to tackle it further in the fall, once my perennials have died down. Here are some of my June blooms, plus a couple of photos from the cheery chickadees nesting in my yard. I found a cute rock project on Pinterest, and since I love rocks and love painting, I decided to make one for my garden. I'm linking up with Tootsie Time for Fertilizer Friday.

July Blooms

 We've had lovely weather so far this July, with most of the days being comfortably warm but not too hot. The biggest chore in my summer garden is remembering to water.  So far so good, but watering is one of the few chores I tend to forget. Then of course there is the ever constant need to weed. Good thing I rather like weeding.

      I'm sharing another photo of Anemone De Caen, one of the few flowers that wasn't chomped on by a hungry snail or some other creature. I think I will have to buy some more of these lovely bulbs for next year, and place them in a spot with less likelihood of being eaten. Next is a photo of the buds on my spirea,  and the teeny tiny flowers on my True Elfin Thyme, which is in my miniature garden. Next up is the airy and delicate annual called Nigella, Bachelor Buttons and a Daylily.
