June Blooms

Hello fellow gardeners! We've had an unusually dry June, with several temperature records broken. Other than a few poor seedlings that I forgot to water (oops!) and my sad looking peas that aren't enjoying the heat, my garden seems to be happy. I worked on my fairy garden and added the accessories my daughter bought me along with some blue rocks for the creek. I still want to add a little patio but the pebble one will do for now. Here are a few of my favorites this month.

Summer At Last!

After weeks of rain and the coolest June in thirty-one years, it looks like summer has finally arrived in Southwest BC, much to everyone's relief. While my peas and lettuce were enjoying the cool weather, my cucumbers were at a virtual standstill, and my zucchini and sunflowers were struggling to sprout.  Our old retaining wall along our driveway gave out during one of our rainy nights, and now looks ugly as you can well imagine. I'm hoping we will have the funds to rebuild it in the fall.  Here are some flowers that have been blooming in spite of all the rain.

Birds & Blooms in my Summer Garden

The Summer weather has finally arrived much to our delight here in the Pacific Northwest. A visiting chickadee considers a bath, since the water is just about perfect. This is my first time growing Cerinthe, and I am happy that the hummingbirds like feeding from it.   The Monarda looks like a flower one might find on an alien planet. Last of all is the one Jay who figured out how to get the peanuts, from the bird IQ test (feeder) I made recently.  What birds & blooms have been gracing your space lately?
