Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve

We took a trip out to the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, BC a couple of weeks ago to see the nesting heron colony. A better camera would have come in very handy, but it was still neat to see so many nests and herons (if you look close) sitting or standing near their nests. They also have many feeders set up near the Rotary Interpretive Centre and this would be a great place to just sit and watch the birds come by.  Much to my husbands dismay, we also found many snakes enjoying the warm spring sunshine.

    Wow! I can't believe all the nests. If we make it to BC, we will need to try to squeeze in a trip to this nature reserve. I love great blue heron's. I don't love snakes, but I really enjoy your pic of the three snakes.

    Thanks Jennifer. My husband hates snakes but even he was taking a few photos of them that day. If you do happen to visit this reserve, ask at the info centre for directions to the best place to view the nests or birds. My photo was taken on the dyke just outside of the reserve.
