It started to bloom in July and I have been thoroughly enjoying it's lovely fragrance. A little hummingbird has also been checking out the blooms, but I have yet to see a butterfly.
I don't know what to do with it this fall, whether to leave it in this pot on our patio as planned, or to plant it in a less than suitable (shady) place in my yard. Any suggestions would be very welcome!
I have some suggestions! I have one in a pot myself, but I put it into a half barrel pot, and it's doing quite well. If your looking for an interesting idea for yours, I turned mine into a topiary! It's fairly easy, as long as your not squeamish about cutting off branches, and your willing to wait a year or too to be dazzled by the full effect! Let me know if you need a how-to. ReplyDeleteI don't know about the dwarf version, but I have some full-sized ones in my garden, and I cut them back to about half size (about my height) each Spring once they are starting to leaf out, so that the new growth is fresh and green. That is a very small pot, but then again the buddleia seems to be quite a vigorous plant, and grows here in the "wild" on steep hillsides, so I would think it could tolerate the pot or shade or whatever home you provide for it.
